In December 1992, Neil Papworth, a software programmer, sent the first text message from his computer to Richard Jarvis's mobile phone. The message read, "Merry Christmas." At the time, mobile phones didn't have the capability to send text messages, but Papworth's computer was able to send it to Jarvis's phone. This technology was a game-changer for the telecommunications industry, leading to the creation of SMS (Short Message Service). Nowadays, we can't imagine a world without text messaging - it's a way of life!
