B-17 "Sally B" making a short landing at North Weald. Tail high and hard on the brakes, just like the pilots manual says. Lifting the tail puts more weight on the wheels, allowing heavier braking without the risk of skidding. It also creates more drag to help slow down, while keeping the fin and rudder in clean airflow to aid steering.
