Dolph Lundgren top 10 movies
1. Universal Soldier: This is really for all 3 Uni Sol movies as they are so utterly different from each other but there’s something about Sergeant Andrew Scott that just makes him a classic action movie villain.
2. Red Scorpion: One thing which I really love about this movie is the story, sure it has great action but it’s not predictable and stands the test of time really well.
3. Showdown in Little Tokyo: Dolph stars alongside the late, great Brandon Lee in this classic buddy movie playing two mismatched cops trying to bring down the Yakuza. The film is surprisingly brutal and remains one of my favourite action movies. It’s also directed by Mark L. Lester who made a little known Arnie movie called Commando.
4. Army of One/Joshua Tree: I love this movie, it has some great action scenes, awesome one-liners and Dolph is (obviously by the title) a kick ass one man army in it.
5. The Expendables 1 & 2: These movies were obviously going to make the list because of how important they are. In a time when real action fans were hungry for new kick ass movies, there were slim pickings. The announcement of The Expendables heralded a return of old-school action and both movies made a ton at the box office. Dolph was one of the highlights of both movies with some choice one-liners and a great fight scene with Jet Li.
6. Rocky 4: The movie that really made Dolph a huge star and is a lot of fan’s favourite Rocky movie, it’s understandable why. The underlying political overtones were timely during the Cold War paranoia of the 80’s.
7. Dark Angel/I Come in Peace: An awesome sci-fi/action movie with some great action scenes, epic one-liners and electric guitar music.
8. One in the Chamber: One of Dolph’s most recent movies is also a personal favourite. His character Andree is a likable hitman with some choice lines and he utterly steals the movie from an Oscar winning actor (Cuba Gooding Jr).
9. The Punisher: I consider this very underrated and it goes to show if you want kick ass action, don’t listen to tedious critics. This has everything an action fan could want.
10. Men of War: Although a bit slow in the mid section, the final 30 minutes have some great action with plenty of guns, explosions and fights. Great fun with an interesting story too.
