After 2 years, the steps I took to start the engine on my XJ40.
Steps
- replace oil
- replace coolant
- replace sparkplugs, HT leads, rotor arm and cap
- Fill with at least a gallon of fresh fuel
- put some upper cylidner lubricant down the cylinders, leave for 20 minutes.
- Remove all the plugs and spin the car over on the starter, for 10 seconds. I completed this step but neglected to video it. This builds up oil pressure
- replace plugs, and start.
- leave to idle for half an hour to fully warm the engine through.
