My next upload of classic Match of the Day takes us all the way back to the first season of the Premier League 1992/93 and features 2 sides battling to avoid the drop. Now going into the final round of fixtures Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest were already relegated and 1 relegation spot remained. It would be Steve Coppell's Crystal Palace and the original Premier League Latics Oldham Athletic managed by Joe Royle scrapping to avoid it. Oldham had all the momentum having beaten Aston Villa thus handing Manchester United their first league title in 26 years and backing it up by beating Liverpool a few days later. But they needed to make it 3 in a row against Southampton at Boundary Park and hope Palace slipped up against Arsenal who had one eye on the FA Cup Final and a potential domestic cup double having won the League cup earlier that season. Barry Davies and Clive Tydlesley are your guides for this day of drama.
