A documentary that tells the story of the women's struggle towards freedom in a war-torn region, from a sombre, patriarchal era through a present where gender equality is more and more a reality, to an uncertain future, threatened by the political and military developments in the area.
A film by Selene Verri and Magali Magnin.

About the authors:
- Selene Verri is an Italian journalist based in France who has been studying the Kurdish issue and EU-Turkey relationship, travelling in Turkey, Iraq and Syria, since 1998. She has produced a number of stories related to these subjects (among them, an interview to Turkish literature Nobel Prize laureate Orhan Pamuk and a story on multilingualism in schools for refugee children in Northern Syria, both for the international TV channel Euronews) and is the author of a book, published in Italy in 2017, on her travels through the borders of the mainly Kurdish-populated area ("Nelle piaghe del Leone," published by Delos Digital).
- Magali Magnin is a French camerawoman with extensive experience in crisis areas. She has travelled and shot videos, for various outlets, in Afghanistan, Colombia, and the Palestinian territories. She actively participated in the creative process of this film, suggesting questions during interviews, giving her precious advice on how to shoot and when to shoot it, and helping out enthusiastically in the post-production phase.
