Newly appointed Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly met Friday with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington, D.C., during the first foreign trip of her new portfolio. She said the two discussed ways Canada and the U.S. will need to co-operate to speed North America's economic recovery, and vowed Canada would stand up for its own interests where necessary.
