On 8th February 1945, the First Canadian Army launched Operation Veritable, the push through the Siegfried Line into Germany with the objective of clearing the western bank of the Rhine.
Backed by the largest artillery bombardment on the western front to that date, assault units of five infantry divisions and several armoured brigades attacked on a front of just 10 kilometres. Eventually, almost half a million Canadian and British men were involved in conditions that more resembled a WW1 front than a WW2 one.
Join us as we explore the ground and events of this operation, which would become the largest battle ever fought under Canadian command. For more information and maps check out Project 44's great website [ Ссылка ]
