By the end of 2020 displaced Venezuelans will reach over 5 million. Some say, “Venezuela is dying.” There are no services, no resources, no electricity, no gas, no medicine and too often, no food to speak of. With resources and employment all but dissolved, displaced Venezuelans leave behind their homes, their belongings, some their families, simply in order to survive. In Colombia, displaced Venezuelans try to find hope. Many, walking for days with only the clothes on their back and the will to survive. They settle in dangerous border towns, garbage dumps and dubious neighborhoods. But there is hope. In this 3 part series, the Colombian church hears the cry of their Venezuelan neighbors and steps in to become the hands and feet of Jesus. Faithful, committed Colombian men and women offer support where others do not. Living Truth and The Peoples Church in Toronto, Canada are supporting Latin America Mission and Tearfund to provide resources, feeding programs, medical care services, children’s education and trauma counselling to our Venezuelan brothers and sisters who have become sick, destitute, homeless.
