Mrs Tanuja Khanna, a 59-year-old woman suffering from liver cancer, approached Manipal Hospitals Jaipur for treatment. After careful planning, Dr Dinesh Kumar Mangal, Consultant - Radiation Oncology, and his team decided to treat her with advanced Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT), which uses many precisely focused beams to target tumours without harming other organs. Dr Mangal used another advanced technology called Active Breath Coordinator (ABC) to ensure none of the patient’s organs falls into the target area of radiation while she breathes. Watch the video to hear out Mrs Khanna’s contentment with the modern treatments and medical staff at Manipal Hospitals.
A liver transplant is a surgical procedure that removes a diseased liver that fails to function properly (liver failure) and is replaced with a healthy, functional liver procured either from a compatible deceased donor or a portion of a healthy liver from a living donor. A liver transplant surgery is usually done for patients who have significant complications due to end-stage chronic liver disease as a final option. A liver transplant can also be done on a rare occasion of sudden failure of a healthy liver.
