Theros Beyond Death is right around the corner, so what better time to talk about the cards from the set that apparently no one is thinking about!? While Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath and
Nykbloom Ancient are getting all of the attention, the Pioneer Sleeper Series is here to talk about the cards that may have value to MTG's newest format, Pioneer!
What is Pioneer?
On October 21, 2019, Wizards of the Coast announced Pioneer, a new eternal, non-rotating format-- a "post-modern" format starting with Return to Ravnica. This format, likely a response to the price barrier of Modern and Legacy, would ban fetch lands (an expensive crux and format staple of Modern and Legacy) from the start, likely leading to a less expensive and therefore more accessible meta for new players and old, all while giving new life to a bunch of otherwise forgotten-about cardboard.
