How to Equip Your Companions in Dwarf Fortress Adventure Mode with DFHack (Dwarf Fortress / Tutorial)

In this quick video, you'll learn how to use the DFHack utility to equip and items with your companions in Dwarf Fortress Adventure Mode. Or, steal items from any known NPC if you want to do that :)

In order to "trade", you need to drop items on the ground, then swap, and pick up the items with the other character. (and swap back). To steal or get items back, swap, (remove &) drop, swap back and pick up the items with the main character.

Works in Dwarf Fortress v.0.34.03+ (taken that there is compatible DFHack version with the adv-bodyswap command or some improved system).

How to Equip Your Companions in Dwarf Fortress Adventure Mode

look at details of the companion, or any NPC you know by name, with (l)ook or (c)ompanions
with the details open for the character you want to swap into
in DFHack command line, give command:
adv-bodyswap

or if you want to swap to non-companion add force:
adv-bodyswap force

you can also swap bodies permanently, making the other character your main character with:
adv-bodyswap permanent
