As another heatwave sets in, cooling centers all over the Portland metropolitan area opened on Wednesday. The centers range from daytime shelters in public libraries, to overnight cooling centers in community centers and homeless shelters.
The Arbor Lodge Shelter at Lombard and North Denver Avenue is open 24 hours a day as a cooling center during this August heat wave. There is food, water, and some creature comforts too, like books to read and pets are welcome.
KGW has a listing of available cooling centers in the metro area, and a link to volunteer to help. Read more here: [ Ссылка ]
Officials say you can also call 211 for information, and to arrange a ride to a cooler place if you need it.
