This documentary is about an artist who dedicated himself to the development of Korean modern art.
Born in 1916, Yoo Youngkuk spent his youth in Uljin and studied art in Japan. After his turning back to Korea in 1943, he experienced the liberation, the Korean War, and democracy revolution in the 50s and 60s. Even though the social environment was not benevolent for him to maintain artwork, he did not stop pursuing his ideal in art and became one of the beloved artists in Korea.
This is the documentary to commemorate his artwork and his life. The documentary is filmed by Jungkyoon Shin and the commentary is followed by Inhye Kim, the curator of MMCA.
