Pro Star, the Authorised Pilatus Centre in New York, has developed a system for lifting a person in a wheelchair into the PC-12 through the large cargo door. Gideon Clement, pilot and industrial designer, thought up the simple lifting system and had it patented: the lift is temporarily mounted on the seat mounting bar right beside the cargo door. The wheelchair can be attached to an aluminium platform using a harness and then hoisted into the aircraft by means of the mechanical lift. There is no requirement for any special approval as the system is not a permanent fixture of the aircraft. The folding lift fits inside two carry bags and can be taken on board as simple baggage.
