Bloomberg recently reported that at least 11 game companies are currently working on games using a 4K Nintendo Switch kit.
This goes hand in hand with rumours that a 4K compatible Nintendo Switch was in the works for a 2022 release.
Apparently, when handing out the 4K dev kits to developers, Nintendo asked developers to design software that supports a “higher resolution”.
Nintendo have categorically denied any claims that a 4K Switch is in the works, tweeting:
“We want to clarify that this report is not true.” And “We have no plans for any new model other than Nintendo Switch – OLED Model”
Some fans have taken this as confirmation that a 4K model is indeed in the works, but Nintendo are reluctant to confirm it’s existence fearing that it may harm OLED sales.
Nintendo do have a history of denying things that are in the works, having denied the existence of the 3DS XL days before it was announced, as well as the DSi and DS Lite.
Do you think a 4K Nintendo Switch is in the works?
