Dr Andrew Jordan explains when he uses Allopurinol in the treatment of gout to reduce uric acid levels. He discusses the reasons for considering the use of Allopurinol:
when gout causes deposits in joints called Tophi;
when you have recurrent gout attacks each year;
when you have a sever gout attack;
or you have kidney stones due to uric acid build up.
As always, please speak to your treating doctor if you have any questions about this medication or any of the other medications you take.
