Foreigners coming to Korea for medical services are spending less than they used to.
The Bank of Korea says spending by foreign patients visiting Korea for medical services dropped by 25 million U.S. dollars,... or six-and-a-half percent, last year, from the year before.
It′s the first decline since the central bank began collecting data in 2006, raising concerns Korea′s medical tourism industry is slowing down.
The drop in spending is attributed to a weaker Russian rouble that′s kept Russian patients from spending money here.
However, the medical community is optimistic that the spending will pick up as the number of foreign patients from the Middle East is growing.
