Just a fun experiment :-) This leaf stalk of Ficus Racemosa rooted in 18 days, in ordinary tap water, but it took me 1 month & 10 days to achieve the root density shown in the video thumbnail, thru constant root pruning, like every 2-4 days. I find it amazing that even a leaf stalk can root, although its purpose seems a mystery yet. The water was changed every 2-3 days, and the leaf exposed to half day's sun, on my apartment balcony. No rooting powder was used. Once I had a few roots touching the inner walls of the glass, I started putting a drop of liquid NPK fertilizer at first, and later increased it to 3 drops, everytime I changed water. This has a small node and will develop as a tree. The roots are on the stem and not leaf. In my hurry, i just thought the roots were on the leaf and i thought of trying it.
Dont do this if you want to propagate plants. For that, I highly recommend air layered cuttings. Even newcomers can easily get success in that, compared to regular cuttings in soil, which require more knowledge & experience to get successful results.
