Black Country Communion's fifth album, titled 'V,' is a masterful blend of funk and soul, underpinned by the heavy rock influences reminiscent of Led Zeppelin. Joe Bonamassa channels the spirit of Paul Kossoff from Free, especially on the final track, "The Open Road," which features subtle nods to their classic song "Mr. Big."
This rock album is a study in balance and nuance, where no one is overplaying or oversinging. The musicians show remarkable restraint, allowing the strength of the songs to shine both musically and lyrically. Glenn Hughes delivers standout performances, and it's refreshing to hear more contributions from Derek Sherinian.
