Robert Fico highlights that it has only been 24 years since the communist regime was removed from Eastern Europe so you will still find people with communist ideals. Some of the most successful businessmen in Hungary and Slovakia are people who were very active in communist structures before 1989. He admits that there are still communist residues in Slovakian society, however since Slovakia adopted the Euro in January 2009 the country has benefitted from its advantages of being part of a wider socialist economy.
