Bruce Sunpie Barnes, Big Chief of the North Side Skull and Bone Gang, reflects on the demographic changes in the skeleton gang’s neighborhood, Tremé, and the importance of the Backstreet Cultural Museum to the gang’s history. Barnes created the skeleton suit displayed in The Historic New Orleans Collection’s 2022 exhibition “Making Mardi Gras.”
