How to do poi ground rolls--a poi dance tutorial designed to help you bring more poi ground work into your spinning. Ground rolls can be done safely without using your hands so you can use them to spin your poi. Adding ground work makes your poi dance more dynamic by introducing level changes into your spinning.

Start by standing straight and bend one knee, allowing it to take you down to the ground. You should wind up with your body pointing straight up as you sit on the foot of the bent leg.

Shift your weight over to sit next to the bent leg. Uncross your legs by reaching the unbent leg over to its native side.

Recross your legs by reaching the leg that was bent over the one that wasn't and begin to bend the formerly straight leg. Shift your weight over the newly bent leg and push your head straight forward to stand up. You shouldn't need your hands to get involved to be able to do this.

Perform it at full speed with momentum in order to make sure you don't get stuck anywhere!

You can spin your poi as you do this move--either spinning a corkscrew or with pendulums.
