In today's comparison video, Maury compares the Martin SC-13E vs 000-12E. During Monday's livestream with Aaron Short, one viewer requested a comparison between the Martin 000-13E vs SC-13E. Both of those guitars are 13-level trim in the Martin Guitar Road Series, and we have both in stock, so we were happy to do it. As we were uploading that video, it occurred to us that it might even be more appropriate to compare the Martin SC-13E vs 000-12E, because the 000-12E has the same Koa veneer back & sides as the SC-13E. We received a couple of emails expressing interest, (thank you) so here we are: Martin SC-13E vs 000-12E!
When comparing these 2 Martin guitars, both the SC-13E Koa and 000-12E share the same solid sitka top. The SC-13E AND the 000-12E have Koa back & sides too. Of course, the 000-12E is built in the more traditional 000 methods & bracing, where there's nothing traditional whatsoever on the SC-13E. The top bracing, back bracing, neck joint and number of frets-to-the-body are all key differences here. ALSO, the SC-13E is strung with 11s. 12s on the 000-12E. Which do you prefer & why? SC-13E or 000-12E?
