Autonomous cars, robots in factory production lines and smart buildings — these are automated decision support systems. Already, more and more intelligent systems can be observed in many different fields, and in the future this phenomenon will be even more noticeable. If they are not designed with man in mind, the consequences may be conflicts and errors, or even danger. Various ways of designing interaction with autonomous systems are aimed at providing a secure, trustworthy and human environment. During the presentation, we will analyse how to create general confidence in autonomous systems. We will see how the user can understand the decisions and actions of the machine, and thus be able to predict and plan its behaviour. We will learn how we can combine the best possibilities of man and machine.
The lecture was held as part of the Design talks Bussiness Summit block on July 10th, during the Gdynia Design Days festival.

Sabine is a UX consultant at Siemens Corporate Technology in Munich. She is passionate about exploring how technology impacts human behavior, businesses, and society. After starting her career as user researcher and working as UX designer in different digital agencies for a couple of years, she joined the Institute of Information Management of the University of St.Gallen to research, teach, and consult on mobile business and business innovation, while pursuing her PhD on digital transformation strategies.
