Video 150 from Sumit Academy discusses The WhistleBlowers Protection Act 2014. There is one name which pops up in history whenever we talk about 'whistleblowers', and that is Edward Joseph Snowden. He was a former CIA employee who leaked classified and restricted information to the public from the United States National Security Agency in 2013.
This video talks about the Act and the provisions made therein, both for protection of whistleblowers and for punishing of false disclosures. It also talks about the private sector, which is not covered by this Act and of the provisions made by SEBI to encourage information about insider trading.
It also talks about the Whistle Blowers Protection (Amendment) Bill 2015, which was passed by Lok Sabha in May 2015, but did not clear Rajya Sabha and lapsed upon the dissolution of the 16th Lok Sabha before the 2019 general elections.
