Today at the Phoenix Society, we conducted a variety of cutting experiments on linen and leather covered tatami mats with an Arms & Armor Italian 3-Ring Rapier. In this video, I performed a descending cut through a mat covered in 3 layers of linen canvas fabric. We also did tip cuts through linen covered tatami, as well as other test cuts designed to increase our understanding of what these weapons are capable of.
Kudos to Arms &Armor for making a very well designed and tough rapier. It performed well and didn't take any damage, even after many failed cut in bordline abusive test cutting experiments.
