We are delighted to announce William Kentridge as the Slade Professor of Fine Art for 2023/4.
William Kentridge (born Johannesburg, South Africa, 1955) is internationally acclaimed for his drawings, films, theatre and opera productions. His method combines drawing, writing, film, performance, music, theatre, and collaborative practices to create works of art that are grounded in politics, science, literature and history, yet maintaining a space for contradiction and uncertainty.
The lecture series – “A Natural History of the Studio” – will take place in-person in Hilary term 2024 at the South School, Examination Schools. Organised by the Department of History of Art and the Centre for Visual Studies. Please note that the series is open to all to attend, and no booking is required.
All lectures will start at 5.30pm.
