The Japanese aren't very forthcoming about the fact that they had two rocket engines explode while on the test stand at Tanegashima Space Center. That reluctance is in spite of the fact that both failures were in pre-production testing and that everything has essentially gone well since then.
In the aerospace engineering world, when you accidentally blow a rocket up it is considered polite to share the KABOOM! video with everyone who wasn't there. Particularly so when no one gets hurt.
JAXA, we are here to help you along.
About the quality of the footage, it is from the very early 1990s. For the curious, both failures were of LE-7 engines.
