When You Wish Upon A Star (Washington-Harline) As Originally sung by Jiminy Cricket and chorus with orchestra
The memorable Oscar-winning tune from Disney’s “Pinocchio” was among 1940’s top song hits, spending five weeks at #1 on “Your Hit Parade” and spawning several strong-selling singles. Here is Cliff Edwards (aka “Ukulele Ike”) with the inspiring movie soundtrack version that also opened ABC’s “Disneyland” television series between 1954 and 1961. See the Glenn Miller and Guy Lombardo posts as well.
Edwards had recorded his songs for the “Pinocchio” soundtrack back in 1938 and they were eventually issued by Victor on commercial 78s when the film was released in early 1940. By then he was contracted to another company (Decca), so you don’t see his name on the label here….only “as originally sung by Jiminy Cricket.”
