To prevent constipation, it's best to breastfeed more frequently and avoid solid food triggers like cow's milk, rice cereal, and bananas. Caffeine and cow's milk in the mother's diet can also affect the baby's bowel movements. Constipation signs in a baby include dry, hard stools, vomiting, crying during bowel movements, and disturbed sleep. If you suspect your baby is constipated, try natural remedies like increasing breastfeeding, juice, a warm bath and tummy massage, and coconut oil.
