An einer großen Lagune am Indischen Ozean gelegen, ist Knysna ( Naisna gesprochen ) die Perle der Garden Route, einem 200km Streifen am südlichsten Teil Südafrikas, bestehend aus Urwald, Seen, Flüssen, Gebirgen am Indischen Ozean.
Der ruhige Urlaubsort wurde im Jahr 2000 und 2002 zum
südafrikanischen "Town of the year" gewählt - ein Traumziel am Indischen Ozean, mit Yachthafen, world class Golfplätzen, europäischer Luxusinfrastruktur ähnlich St. Tropez, nur wesentlich günstiger und nie überlaufen ....es gibt alles ausser Wintersport.
ENGLISH: Knysna is the heart of the Garden Route, a 250km stretch of coastline between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, has about 75,000 inhabitants and is themost popular tourist destination in South Africa. Several times, the city was awarded as the most beautiful city.
The situation in the protected lagoon is unique. Knysna is surrounded by a160 km wide forest belt, in which the last forest elephants live.The unique nature, the flora and fauna of the continent can be found bundled here. Even the finest golf resorts in the world can be found, where the stars indicate the source. The immensely popular tourist town of Knsyna is flanked by the Knysna heads. Two striking masses of land guard the entrance to the lagoon where the British first set foot in 1804.
The Western head features ancient caves and looming cliffs which overlook the treacherous, churning water below. Undoubtedly, cruising the lagoon and exploring the Nature Reserve on the Western head is the highlight of many trips to Knysna.
On the eastern head you will find 5 Star Guesthouses and the homes of the millionärs with stunning views to the lagoon and the indian ozean, where you see whales, dolphins, seals and sharks
