GOTRAX XR e-scooter is equipped with a 250W motor (400W peak power) which offers up to 15.5mph speed. The built-in battery is 36 V, 5.2 Ah and the max range is 12 miles per charge. This e-scooter can handle weight up to 220lb, which is good enough for most teenagers/adults.
Pros:
- 8.5" inch air tire: The large front and rear wheels make it easy to use this e-scooter on most road conditions. The ride is smooth on most roads with responsive controls. It does get a little bumpy on rough roads due to lack of suspension system.
- Front wheel with regenerative brake and rear wheel with disc brake: Dual brake system keeps the rider safe which the regenerative brake recharges battery while braking.
- Foldable and compact design. This e-scooter is just 44"x15"x6" in size (smaller than most e-scooters at this price) when folded. I have tried fitting it into trunks of SUV as well as sedan without a problem.
- Decent range and top speed: There are 2 gear option which can be adjusted by pressing the control button. At 2nd gear (high speed), 130lb rider is able to maintain ~12 mph most time with top speed at 14-15 mph (as shown on the console). Range with 130 lb rider is 10-12 miles per charge, depending on road condition and riding style.
- Build quality and weight: The overall build quality is pretty decent and this e-scooter should last a long time with proper maintenance. The weight is ~26.5lb and I have no problem lifting it with one hand. The folding mechanism has an extra safety pin to keep it locked while in use
Cons:
- Air tire can go flat. It's best to keep a pump/tire slime nearby for emergency.
- GOTRAX XR does climb hills but it's a bit slow. For steep hills, the speed would be around 6-7 mph.
- No light on rear wheel, only a reflector. For riders who often ride in the evening, It might be best to wear a helmet with rear lights for safety.
