Bonnie starts this episode by saying, you know what's so weird? It always looks like I've got liner on and I don't. Andrea repeats what Bonnie says, it looks like you have liner on but you don't? Yeah Bonnie says. Right here and points to her eye. Looks like I have liner on and I don't. Andrea then says maybe you're born with it. Then sings maybe it's Maybelline.
Bonnie says of Jorge's shirt, that looks like you're in Star Trek. Jorge says yeah it does doesn't it? And is he scratches it a beam appears and he's transported away.
We have somebody special today. Fabrizio Filippo. Fab Filippo. The guy is so talented. Oh my God. I think he has created two of the best things on CBC ever. Save Me and Sort Of. He has director credits, he has producer credits he's got writer credits. But just his acting, he goes back to 1990 to a show called Katts and Dog. He was also on a Street Legal, Canadian Bacon, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Queer as Folk, Billable Hours, Being Erica, and Waydowntown. He won a Canadian Screen Award for Save Me. Andrea said she setting the clocks back 50 years but he's really dreamy. Ladies and Gentlemen let's welcome Fab Filippo.
There's Fab. He enters. Thank you, thank you thank you for doing this. I'm so glad to be here thanks for having me he says. Congratulations on Sort of. I've watched it and it's so good. It's funny, it's sharp. It's smart and witty. Then they show a clip from Sort Of.
Bilal Baig who plays the lead is also the co-creator co-writer co-showrunner we were doing a play together. And we started chatting about writing and then that grew into pitching ideas to each other. I just think we should build a show around you. Not write you, but write a character that's kind of like you. Bilal had been a nanny. And we both said yes, oh my God, THAT.
Katts and Dog was your first gig, is that true? Yup he replies. They show a clip of Katts and Dog. That's amazing that you dug that up, he says. I remember watching it with my friends. And when the line went came out, we all cheered. You nailed it, Andrea says. You nailed it. Thank you he says. Bonnie asks if he went to theatre school. He replies I was a Tarragon baby. When I was 16 I took my first class. Because of my Drama teacher she said you should try it. The next year they had like spring Chekov. You had to audition for it. And I remember saying to myself if I got in I'm going to make a real go of this acting thing and I did get in. And then that opened up the Toronto theatre world to me.
Let's talk about Buffy says Andrea. They show a clip of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I think I forgot that I got to kiss Sarah Michelle Gellar, Fab says. She got to kiss you Andrea says. Thank you says Fab. When I got the part it hadn't become the seminal TV show that I had become but it was interesting. I remember going what is this Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Like oh wow this is a good show.
I went through your Instagram. They show a picture of Fab's almond butter spoon. Fab says somebody who he loves very much gave him that spoon. Next they show a picture of an abstract painting. Fab says that that is a portrait of his son. Is there anything that you want to talk about was coming up? We're going to make a movie. Myself and Jonas Chernixk and Diana Frances. We're going to make a little indie film next year called the Time We Met. Which is exciting. FABulous. Thank you so much. Thank you for having me on everyone. Isn't he FAAABulous Bonnie says. He was TEERific Andrew replies. What? asks Bonnie? You said FAAABulous I said TEERific. Don't forget to like, share, comment and subscribe. We'd like to hear your comments.
