Carnations are a super long lasting flower, perfect for DIY flower arrangements! A tricky thing however, about these flowers, is that they are a bit slow to fully open up. In this tutorial I show you an easy and quick way to open up your carnation buds, so that they are full and beautiful for your wedding day.

When your carnations arrive, you’ll want to cut the ends of the stems with pruners (not scissors) and place them in water. To help facilitate them opening up, place them in a sunny area that is room temperature (avoid direct blaring sunlight and any heaters/fans). The sun will naturally help them to open up. If you are ready to arrange and they haven’t opened up enough, you can apply this trick to expedite the process!
