In the deepest darkest reaches of a forest if there is but one shaft of sunlight making it's way through, the Wallet Fresnel Lens can easily make char material ignite. In the past, I've done it with just a 4" shaft of light.
Fresnel Lenses are easy to carry, work well in weak sunlight, use up no resources, will ignite tinder directly if you can muster 2 minutes of patience, and are inexpensive. Google Wallet Fresnel Lens Fire Starting. A 3 pack like what I use is only about $5.
