A young man wakes up on the subway, his memory lost. Across from him is a girl, Lara, she tells him that his name is Sam. Then the authorities arrive and all hell breaks loose - Sam and Lara show off their extraordinary urban combat skills and escape. Later she hands him and a journal he apparently gave to her for safekeeping, he discovers that they were juvenile offenders with high-level skills (he was a hacker) trained to be super-agents, although all is not what it seems. Based on best-selling Dutch novel by Mirjam Mous, BOY 7 is a slick thriller that is smart and well-paced.
The young cast carry the film and set pieces well and they waste no time on obvious explanations to other characters so the audience know what is going on – we get it and are smart enough, yes it is refreshing… so is the film!
