We all know that too much sugar is bad for our general health. But not many people understand the impact that sugar has on the liver.
When we consume a meal that contains sugar, our bodies convert it to glucose. Our body stores some of the glucose for later use and consumes some of it immediately for energy. Glucose that is in excess in the blood is converted to fat cells.
One of the organs in our bodies where this extra fat is stored is the liver. Fatty liver disease is caused by the gradual replacement of liver cells by fat cells over time.
Too much sugar can cause obesity, and being obese is a contributing factor for liver disease.
In this video Dr. Rahul Saxena (Liver Transplant Surgeon) talks about the impact of eating more sugar on your liver.
