Dr. M Balamuralikrishna, perhaps, is the FIRST Carnatic musician who championed in facilitating Hindustani musicians to render the compositions of Carnatic music trinities.
Here is one such feat accomplished through a Jugalbandhi with Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty.
It is a treat to watch again and again the integration of the music of the trinity with a Hindustani musician par excellence, in this Doordarshan broadcast.
As we watch the performance of the maestros, we savour the manifestation of higher order aesthetics expressed through a shared vision of symphony. Also, the higher order consciousness level of neutrality, willingness and acceptance is seen in their body language and gestures of grace in rendering.
The all-time master piece of Muthuswamy Dikshitar – Vātāpi Ganapatim in Hamsadhwani, in the hands of these maestros shines with a new splendour.
The accompanying artistes in this Jugalbandhi are:
💠 S R Veera Raghavan and Brajeshwar Mukharjee – vocal support
💠 Delhi P Sunder Rajan – violin
💠 Ajay Joglekar – harmonium
💠 Tiruvarur M Bhakthavatsalam – mridangam
💠 C Subankar Banarjee – tabla
