If you are like me and you think hatching quail would be just like hatching chickens, you need to watch this video! So many tips that will help you be more successful or at least less surprised by this experience.
Quail Incubating Logistics
Egg Collection:
Can collect for up to 7 days before placing in the incubator. Keep in a fridge set between 45-55F or in a cooler kept at the same temp.
Incubation:
Humidity and temp are the same as chickens but the process only takes 17-19 days. So adjust incubator lock down to day 14.
Quail chick care:
Buy a game bird crumble and you should crush some into a powder to ensure they will be able to eat it. Also they need a water base that is small (specifically made for quail) because they can drown in the water the first few days. You can also put smooth rocks in the water bases to make sure they do not drown those first few days in the brooder.
