Cancer is a disease of elderly. Most of the cancers occurs once the person crosses certain age group and there are very few cancers for which screening tests are available presently there are only 5 cancers for which screening is available and for these 5 cancer screening starts above the age of 40 years or 50 years. For the breast cancer screening starts above the age of 40 years, for rest of the cancer, that is colon cancers, cervical cancer, lung cancer and prostate cancer, the screening starts above the age of 50 years. There are very few cancers which can run in families. For those cancers which run in families, there are genetic testing which are done to know whether if at all it run in families. If it runs in families, for those patients and their relatives, cancer screening is done at an earlier stage. But most of the patients, it is after the age of 40 years.
