Bali-based musician, activist and farmer Gede Robi has been using his platform to amplify social and environmental issues for many years. After learning about the scale of the single-use plastic problem in Indonesia, Robi has launched ‘Pulau Plastik’ (Plastic Island) – a behavior change campaign that aims to reduce single-use plastic usage and pollution, inspired by Bali’s ‘Tri Hita Karana’ philosophy.

The World Bank Group is working with more than 40 countries to reduce single-use plastic usage, prevent pollution and increase circularity. In East Asia Pacific, we’re working with ASEAN, and governments across the region, to end the use of single-use plastics, drive plastic recycling, reduce plastic leakage, as well as working with some of the region’s biggest companies to push for circular economy business models by investing in sustainable materials and packaging, and climate-smart waste management.
