People like to claim that Sri Lanka is same as the Lanka from Ramayana, which isn't true. The existance of a natural landbridge between India and Sri Lanka does not help much. But Ramayana clearly mentions Sinhala and Lanka as two different things.
Perhaps we have been looking at a wrong island for Lanka and the real lanka is in reality somewhere else. Perhaps it is right on the mainland Jambudwipa.
