Raw on-stage video of Rusted Root performing live at the 2015 Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion on Saturday, September 19. I chose to publish this impromptu footage because this band is simply phenomenal! The footage really show's Drummer Cory Caruso's amazing talent in conjunction with Percussionists Liz Berlin and Dirk Miller.
Special thanks to our executive director, Amy Eger, who secured our backstage pass and for her major contributions, of which this continuing journey into filmmaking would not be possible.
Thank you to Rusted Root's tour manager, Mr. Larry Dawgello for tapping me on the shoulder and pushing me off onto the stage. You're a standup guy! (Fist-bump type. Won't forget next time.)
Also special thanks to John Darhower, Visage X's executive partner for his continued support and contributions.

TECHNICAL INFO:
This was an unplanned shoot as I was invited on-stage by the band's management, who asked that I capture their encore from the stage after they had already started the song. So I was unable to capture it from the beginning.
I was the only camera person operating that night for Visage X. I attended the festival as a freelance filmmaker.
Gear Used:
I was operating a 3-axis gimbal with the Canon Mark II mounted on her with a 24-105mm L series lens. For monitoring I used a SmallHD A7 field monitor. The gear weighed about 14 lbs with no support harness or vest used. This was my first field test of the unit and I had been filming for hours before this performance, so my arms were very fatigued by this point. A support harness will be used in future shoots so that I may focus on capturing beautiful shots without having to deal with balancing all that weight for long periods of time.
Firmware:
The video was shot utilizing Marvel and Magic Lantern within the firmware.
Sound:
The sound you hear is from the Mark II's internal mic. In a pro shoot I would have either patched into their control board for sound with an external recorder or, ideally, would have had them record it professionally and used their final master track for editing using multiple cameras, including a jib or crane.
Synopsis:
So this was simply an opportunity. I had very limited area of which to work from as I was being considerate of the band, the crowd and other pro videographers capturing the performance.
This video underwent very light editing to include the crowd and to improve the sound quality.
