The Bound Shadehound mount is a craftable mount that is usable in the maw. This mount is is the third mount that works in the maw, and doesn't require hours in Twisting Corridors or insane luck to get unlike the Corridor Creeper or the Mawsworn Soulhunter.

However, you will need appreciative with Ve'nari, the Animated Levitating Chain upgrade, as well as 3,500 stygia. It will also make your life significantly easier if the Perdition Hold weekly "Words of Warding" is active.

This mount takes between at least two hours to complete, but can take over eight. This is still faster than 8 layers of twisting corridors!

Pre-requisites: Be Appreciated by Ve'nari, have 3,500 Stygia, have learned Animated Levitating Chain. Helpful: "Words of Warding" quest is active because of Assassin's Soulcloak

1) Buy "Stygia Dowser" for 1,500 Stygia from Ve'nari
2) Go to Domination Keep in Perdition Hold (approx at 23.0, 68.4), and grapple up 1 level. Go to the left, and go up the stairs to a second hook at about 24.0, 75.5.
3) Use your extra action button and solve the Rune Puzzle to get "Crumbling Stele" by making the runes above the chest match the runes on the spikes. Spike #1 was to your left grappling up and goes clockwise. You have limited attempts before being locked out for two hours. If this happens, use the time to farm
3) Return to Ve'nari and buy "Partial Rune Codex" for 2,000 Stygia.
4) Retrieve "Rune Codex Page: Forging" from the cave in the Beast Warrens located at 48.8, 84.7. The page is in the back left.
5) Retrieve "Rune Codex Page: Souls" from Perdition Hold located at 27.2, 72.3.
6) Retrieve "Rune Codex Page: Binding" from Tremaculum at 24.6,12.67. The teleport up is at 27.6,17.3.
7) Read all the pages by clicking on them to get "Intact Rune Codex"
8) Pet "Stray Soul" in the River of souls to get "Willing Wolf Soul". Go against the current and you'll eventually find him.
9) Kill the rare "Soulforger Rhovus" to get "Soulforger's Tools"
10) Spend the next 2 - 8 hours of your life farming 200 "Stygia Dust" and 200 "Stygia Sliver". The "Stygia Dowser" will allow you to see "Stygia Nexus" on the minimap. On the ground these look like glowing green orbs. Stand next to one and click on the "Stygia Dowser". Only one person can tap a nexus at a time. I recommend not going over eye 2 for this.
11) Celebrate the end of grinding
12) Go to "Soulsteel Anvil" (located at the very top of Domination Keep at 20.2,67.0-You will need to grapple hook up the side) to create 20 "Stygia Bar"
13) Create "Armored Husk" by combining 20 "Stygia Bar" with "Soulforger's Tools"
14) Optional: Take the Chaotic Rift to get down (it takes you to Zovaal's Cauldron)
15) Go to the Binding Alter at 45.2,48.2 to combine "Armored Husk" with "Willing Wolf Soul" to get "Feral Shadehound"
16) Read "Crumbling Stele" to get the rune order
17) Use "Feral Shadehound" to get start the quest "Feral Shadehound" which starts the binding ritual
18) Run "Feral Shadehound" into a cage or pillar to not have to bother with mob agro while you punch in the correct rune order.
19) This completes the quest "Feral Shadehound" which gives "Bound Shadehound"
20) Learn the mount, brag to guildies/friends

A quick note on farming. When "Words of Warding" is active, as long as you don't turn it in, you can cloak easily in Perdition Hold, which makes Perdition Hold ideal for farming "Stygia Dust" and "Stygia Sliver". It also makes it easier to get "Rune Codex Page: Souls" as well as get to go to "Soulsteel Anvil".
