These are some of the best and most useful things I learned being an entrepreneur and being in sales. I believe these truths I learned will only help me achieve my life goals and I am so grateful for my experience.
Again, this is just my experience and I hope someone can find this useful.
1) Nobody owes you anything
The moment you detach yourself from the outcome the universe will work in a magic way to get you what you originally wanted. So many times entrepreneurs and sales people would blame others for their failure. Sales is the numbers game, the more people you talk to the more opportunities will be opening up. In most cases people won't be ready to buy your product or service right away, they are not pre-qualified at this point in time. Embrace the idea that nobody owes you success or support; detachment from outcomes can lead to unexpected positive results.
2) Nobody cares how you feel
If you are in a business that provides services, which almost all businesses are, your customers care about the value you can bring to the table. I believe most people are good people, and their acting this way is just an automatic response to the situation. Getting rejected is the best thing that can happen to you in sales and business. In business, emotions may hinder success; customers care about the value you provide, not your personal struggles.
3) Perception is Everything
It is extremely important what you think about yourself and how you see yourself, but it is even more important how other people see you. Everything is important, the way you talk, the way you walk, the way you dress yourself.
Credibility is also a perception, someone with a million subscribers will look more credible than someone with 240 subscribers. How others perceive you is crucial; presentation, behavior, and credibility influence people's judgments.
4) Everyone is your client
It's a small town and everyone knows someone. I am always trying to have a small talk with everyone I encounter. If you are genuinely interested in other people, they will ask you what you do. This is a perfect opportunity to offer your product or service. Networking is vital; make connections everywhere, as everyone can potentially be a client or a source of referrals.
5)Embrace your level
It's okay to work other jobs while your business is growing. Sometimes you will meet people who are just more successful than you, so don't envy them, try to learn from them. Whatever you do, be grateful for whatever you have, and be ready to go to the next level. Avoid comparing yourself to others; recognize and make the most of your current situation on the journey to success.
6) Don't discount yourself too much
People do want to pay you, but discounting yourself too much can actually hurt your business. Entrepreneurship isn't an hourly wage job, your time can be worth exponentially more if you provide excellent value and charge for it. Constantly offering discounts may devalue your services; people often respect and value what they pay for.
7) Learn how to slow down
Jumping on small tasks can create anxiety, nothing will happen if you don't respond to that text or email immediately. Create systems and use leverage to create more time for yourself. Mental health is everything. Balance urgency with patience; not every task requires immediate attention, and gratitude for current achievements is essential.
