Drifting is a driving technique where the driver intentionally oversteers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels or all tires, while maintaining control from entry to exit of a corner. A car is drifting when the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, to such an extent that often the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn (e.g. car is turning left, wheels are pointed right or vice versa, also known as opposite lock or counter-steering).
As a motorsport discipline, professional drifting competitions are held worldwide and are judged according to the speed, angle, showmanship and line taken through a corner or set of corners.[1]
Malikah Daniels aka MC/B-Girl DC3 aka DJ Angle, was introduced to Hip Hop around 1991. It was at a time when she and her friends started attending the popular Saturday matinee at “The Base” in central Cape Town. “I was drawn by the music and the clothes that were worn.” she says, “It was nothing exotic; it was just me.
Malikah is now a proud mother and manager to one of the most well known DJs in this country, DJ Ready D. She has witnessed the growth of local Hip Hop as a performing artist, as well as from behind the scenes. She believes that it is still going to grow even greater from here.
