San Francisco Giants baseball great Willie Mays urges you to tell a fireman or a police if you see blasting caps. Play it safe and so is life - don't touch them!!!
This was on TV, in heavy rotation, in the 1960s. We kids had no idea what he was talking about, but if he said so, it was law. Some people thought that some kids got injured by blasting caps during the construction of Candlestick, but this is likely an urban legend.
Find anyone who was a kid in SF in the 60s, and whose parents let them watch TV, and say: "if you see blasting caps..." and more often than not, they will respond "DON'T TOUCH THEM!"
After years of searching, including asking Willie himself if he had a copy, I finally found this in a film archive in Chicago. I digitized it and put it here. The Giants have a copy now, too, but don't play it at the ballpark.
