If you've ever noticed dominant seventh chords popping up in a lot of songs on the charts, it's no coincidence.

It's become really popular to take any chord that would normally be a minor chord in a given major key and make it dominant 7, and that's a quick and easy way to make chord progressions that sound like popular songs right now.

I even took this chord progression from a Post Malone song, just as an example.
