Learn about creating forums in Moodle but also learn an excellent navigation trick that makes the forums work so much better. This is an ideal video for anyone learning Moodle but also anyone that wants to make their Moodle site a bit more professional.

The video takes you through the options of setting up a forum, choosing the theme and then adding one or more than one forum question to the theme. The first thing you need to learn about forums in Moodle is that there is actually two parts to setting up a forum. So first you set the theme, then you set the questions for that theme. It is also a good idea to add at the end of the question a note to point out that the students simply need to click on the REPLY button to reply to a forum post.
The second important thing is the navigation. Moodle does not make it easy to jump back from a forum to the main page. You have to use the breadcrumb trail at the top of the page. I suggest a great way of creating a button within the question, so that after completing the Moodle forum, the students can click on the 'Home Button' and go back to the main content.
This is a great trick as it vastly improves the navigation of the site and it makes it much easier for students to move around the pages. Learning to improve the functionality of Moodle and making it easier to navigate is useful and makes the user experience much better.
